I felt like posting this after my first day of the new job but decided to give it a shot. Now it's been 2 and a half weeks and I'm fed-up already so I'm letting loose a little rantage. With my new job I have to go into several different building to test and troubleshoot problems. Right now I don't have a way to get into those buildings. For fucks sake how can I do the bloody job I've been hired to do without being able to go where the job is? Ok, so I can't get in unless someone lets me in so I have to do this bullshit little song and dance with people before some kind soul will take pity on me and let me come inside. Inside the buildings are several locked doors. This is to keep the people who are not supposed to be there from accidentally destroying a town's telephone network. I just got my keys today after lunch. Management is on the ball here!
Other problems I'm trying to deal with right now are less pressing, like my not having a pager to get a trouble ticket notification incase I'm working on something somewhere away from the ticket printer. I also don't have email yet so the important notices don't reach me. There are other things but I'm not allowed to talk about them, they could fire me after all and I'd loose all this mess...
Now take all of the above and add to it 3 hours on the road a day, more if there are some assholes rubber-necking along I-95. These asshats will slam on the brakes to look at an accident totally oblivious to the massive amount of possible autowreckage coming up behind them. You know CPR? Good, pull your ass over and help. If not then keep going, 10MPH on the interstate because you want to see some guy splattered on his windshield is fucking stupid! EMS even has problems getting to the poor guy stuck in the burning car because of these idiots, and it was probably cause because someone slammed on their brakes to see what a cop was doing on the other side of the interstate!
