It looks like the issue is in a driver for a part used only in the 30.  Read about it on the Zune forum below if you want.  The good news is they expect the things to work fine on the 1st.  I’m happier now, I have a 16 hour drive saturday that was going to suck hard core if I would have had to try and find a decent radio station every 60 miles or so.

I woke up 2 hours after Microsoft said it’d be working, plugged my Zune into the PC and after it charged enough it’s working fine. I will say I held me breath a bit while it booted though. Ha!

I’m one of those people that doesn’t have an Ipod because I have a Zune,  Microsoft’s little answer to the Ipod.  Mostly I got this thing because I can get a Zune Pass for around $14 a month and grab almost every bit of music I want legally.  I say almost because some artists or maybe their labels don’t allow this.  Either way I get almost anything I can think of to listen to with no problem at all.  The device itself has been great even until this morning, now it’s sitting here on my desk looking a lot like a 30g paperweight.  Sometime around midnight Pacific time masses of 1st Gen Zune 30s rebooted and stuck on the loading screen.

So far I havn’t gotten to the end of the thread I started reading about this first thing this morning due to folks hammering the forums looking for a fix.  I’d expect to see something from MS about this soon but if some folks are right then tomorrow it could just work automagicly.  The word I’m hearing is this is related to the calendar and happened because this is a leap year.  I would think that would have given us a problem on leap day but who knows.  I’ll update if I get any new information.

I’m currently gathering the parts I’d need to build a headphone amp.  This’ll be the first project I’ve done since college so I’m a little excited about it.  Right now I’m starting with the basic CMoy design at Headwize as a starting point.  I’m probably not going to change too much with it but I’ve already dropped a volume pot in my design.

The whole reason I’m building this amp is to take the audio output of my XBox360 and bump it up so I can use my headphones.  Until I get a HDTV to play on I’m using my 22 inch monitor for the crispness.  Everything looks great but I don’t have speakers built into the monitor and my surround system is a bit much for the place I’m staying right now.  I know it’d be much easier to bring my reciever down here on my next trip north but where’s the DIY spirit in that?

I got to play a little WoW with my daughter for a bit tonight.  It’s been a while, she’s been in and out of the hospital up north so it’s good she’s able to have some fun now.  St. Louis Children’s is a great hospital but it’s not nearly as good as sleeping in your own bed and being able to see your friends.  Anyway, we messed around in Tarren Mill for a bit tossing snowballs at each other before taking down the Greench.  We didn’t really do too much but we had fun doing it and that’s what matters!

I’m impressed, everything seems to be right where it should be and easy to manage.  I like it so much I’m going to dive right in and use it on the main site. As soon as my host updates this will be on the main domain instead of the test domain.  It’s not like the testing phase usually turned up a bit of broken software for me anyway.  All I really did was get used to the layout of the administrative side of things.  Anyhoo, here it is in all it’s glory…

I’ve never tried Wordpress before now but I got tired of the way Drupal was acting on my host.  Of the packages I looked at this was the best so here we are, yay!
